my Story

Anwer Alkuhaly is a Cybersecurity Professional with expertise in Incident Response, Security Awareness and Training, Cloud Computing, Project Management, Data Analytics, and Business Analysis. He currently works for Patterson Companies, a Fortune 500 medical supplies company,  as a Senior Security Analyst.


Alkuhaly is a seasoned expert in developing comprehensive security awareness programs tailored to the unique needs of organizations. With a proven track record of implementing strategies that resonate with employees, he excels in creating engaging content and delivering training sessions that foster a culture of security. His skill in crafting materials and managing targeted campaigns, especially sophisticated phishing simulations, is evident in the tangible improvements in compliance and behavior he consistently achieves.

Possessing sharp analytical abilities, Alkuhaly adeptly sets key performance indicators and provides insightful reports that measure program effectiveness. His collaborative efforts with compliance teams have enhanced security policy adherence across multiple levels of business operations. Alkuhaly's experience extends to providing critical incident response training and conducting thorough security awareness assessments. A competent manager of external vendor relationships, he also excels in stakeholder engagement, leveraging his interpersonal skills to unite cross-functional teams toward a common goal of robust security and awareness.


Alkuhaly emigrated from Yemen in 2015, and like many new arrivals, he navigated an unfamiliar culture in Minnesota to find a job that matched his skills. Thanks to the Hennepin County Pathways Program, his professional career in the United States started with Hennepin County where he worked as an IT Professional for six years. 


During his employment with Hennepin County, Anwer Alkuhaly was the poster child for the Pathways program success as featured in the StarTribune Newspaper. He was also featured on a MinnPost report featuring the Pathways program's success.  Alkuhaly completed a Project Management Certificate from the University of Minnesota, and was a Board Member for the Public Sector User Group


Alkuhaly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yemen with a  4.0 GPA and First Class Honors. In 2009, he was selected to participate in the NESA Undergraduate Exchange Program, where he attended Clarion University for two semesters. 


For fun, Alkuhaly enjoys going fishing, and loves to indulge his love for knowing something new every day.
